How to store & protect your jewellery

Always protect your jewellery from sharp blows, scratching, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold. Store your jewellery in moisture-free places. If possible store them in a soft lined box or pouch with an anti-tarnish strip.

Your jewellery will age and tarnish naturally so if you want to keep your pieces in pristine condition, clean your jewellery regularly, using a professional jewellery cleaning product. Be aware of tarnish which may occur as a result of oxidation, caused by the interaction of silver or gold plated jewellery with certain elements such as oxygen or sulphur as well as with certain acids.

You should prevent swimming while wearing your jewellery, as chlorine in swimming pools can cause damage to all metals and will erode gold jewellery. Avoid wearing while cleaning, gardening or performing sports activities.

Freshwater Pearls

Pearls are sensitive and it is therefore important to treat them with gentle care.
Before storing them, make sure to wipe them with a soft cloth. Avoid using any soap or detergent on your pearls.
If you do not use your pearls that often, make sure to take them out of storage once in a while, as they benefit from contact with your skin. You can actually risk your pearls turning yellow and dull by not wearing them as they absorb oil from your body to stay fresh!

Gold-plated & Sterling Silver Jewellery

Use a soft cloth gently rubbing the surface to remove any dirt after every use.
If you would like to wash or rinse your jewellery, make sure to wash it gently with warm water and non-chemical soap. Make sure it is fully dry before putting it in storage.
Apply your perfume, body and hair products before wearing your jewellery.
Avoid showering or swimming with your jewelry as it will damage the metal.
